I would like to congratulate and thank young Chloe from Year 4 at St Thomas’ Primary School who helped us on Monday with an elderly Chinese Lady who had memory problems and could not remember where she lived. Chloe sat with her and asked her questions about where she lived, etc. She is a LOCAL HERO in my eyes and in the eyes of the School Principal, Mr Tuohy, and, I am sure, her class-mates and the parish family also. The police had been looking for the Lady since 7.30am that day. Well done, Chloe, we are very proud of you. Fr Wayne & Mr Tuohy
is now resident at Iona and won’t be coming back to the Convent in Claremont. Sister is hopeful, however, of being able to attend the weekly Lunch Club gatherings on Wednesdays.
Janaki is a young entrepreneur from Nepal, who has turned her life around. Growing up in a world of poverty and disadvantage, coupled with a forced marriage at the age of twelve, she was in a very vulnerable position. Even more so when her husband died just two years into their marriage. With the help of a Caritas Australia supported program she is now running her own successful sewing business and has become an inspirational community leader. Please donate to Project Compassion 2018 and empower vulnerable young people like Janaki in Nepal to build a just future for themselves, their families and their communities. A Just Future starts with your support! You can donate through Parish boxes and envelopes, by visiting www.caritas.org.au/projectcompassion or phoning 1800 024 413.
We urgently need volunteers to make soup for the supper after the 6.30pm African Choir Mass on every 3rd Sunday of the month. If you can help, please contact Trish on 0408 073 881 or see her after Mass.
We take this opportunity to welcome all new parish members. We hope that you find St Thomas the Apostle a friendly parish community. Please join us after the 7.30am and 9.30am Masses for a ‘cuppa’ in the parish centre. Say hello to Father, meet some new/old friends, sit down and have a chat. Please become part of the family of St Thomas the Apostle. See you there!
Pope Francis has invited all people of good will to join him in a Special Day of Prayer and Fasting for Peace in war-torn countries, especially South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He also invites “non-Catholic and non-Christian brothers and sisters to join us in this initiative in whatever ways they deem most appropriate”. A group of parishioners will gather in St Thomas’ Church to pray the Rosary, in unity with the invitation from Pope Francis. We anticipate this will take 20-30 minutes. All parishioners and their friends are invited to participate.

The St Thomas’ School Year 5s will be involved in the Liturgy for the 5.30pm Kids’ Mass next Saturday. After the Mass, please come and join the children and their parents as they host a Sausage Sizzle for the parish and school community. It would be wonderful to see you all there. Fr Wayne

We would appreciate donations of canned tuna and canned meat. Thank you for all your kind generosity in the past. We also appreciate the Coles gift cards which we can use to do so much for those in need. The Vinnies Team
